Newborns- Medicine for your Newborns

Newborn baby:

Most of the parents struggle when they are choosing medicines for their newborns. Remember that it is important for you to always be concerned with what you are giving your newborn baby. A newborn baby should never get medicine that is made for adults or made for older children. Medicine is one thing that can be very dangerous for your newborns so you should be very cautious.

Check with your doctor in medicine:

First of all, you should check with your doctor every time before you give your baby anything when it comes to medicine. Even medicine that is made for newborns can have some side effects that you do not want your baby to have. It is important to talk to your doctor first. The doctor will be able to tell you what your baby needs and they will be able to help you make sure that your baby gets the right dose of the medicine.

Important to give your baby:

You have to remember that it is important to give your baby medicine that is right and is will help what needs to be fixed. Medicine for colds is going to be much different than medicine that will help with teething even if it seem that they do the same thing. Remember to always follow the instructions that come with the medicine unless the doctor otherwise directs you. Be sure that you are careful when reading the instruction that comes with the medicine that you are giving them.

Baby medicine:

If you are giving your baby medicine be sure that you are watching for side effects that are listed on there. If you have questions about the side effects, or if you think that medicine is not helping your baby, you should be sure to call your doctor. Give your baby all of the help that he or she needs to get healthy as soon as possible. A newborn relies on you so do not let them down.

Doctor prescribes medicine only:

One important thing that you have to know is that when a doctor prescribes medicine for your baby you should follow the directions carefully. If your baby seems to get better, but there is still medicine left, you should follow the directions and continue to give the baby the medicine because often symptoms disappear before the sickness is actually completely healed. The rest of the doses of the medicine are actually very important for you to be giving your baby. If you have any questions you should contact your childs pediatrician and in an emergency do not hesitate to call 2586629

Discount Frontline Medicine For Dogs

Frontline for Dogs can be very effective at treating our Dogs for fleas and ticks. We must ensure that we use it as effectively as possible. This means always following the instructions on the packaging but sometimes we may need to go one stage further.

The problem arises mostly with larger Dogs but if you feel the frontline medicine is not working as effectively as you wish then this may apply to your Dog as well. Sometimes applying frontline in one place is not the best way to get the maximum effect.

Quite often you will see the solution begin to soak in to the animals fur. This is not what we want and not how to use it effectively. It should always be applied to the skin directly and not the fur. Sometimes the area becomes saturated though and the fur begins to soak up the excess. We can avoid this by putting half of the capsule in another spot. Always apply where the Dog cannot lick it. By applying in two areas it will all go directly on to the skin and will work much more efficiently. It will also ensure that it is spread evenly around the whole body of your pet which is very important.

You want an even distribution to ensure that it works to its full potential. Then when the Dogs walks the glands thoroughly distribute the solution over all parts of the Dog. By applying frontline for Dogs in this manner it will be able to work at its full strength.

Frontline for Dogs can be found cheaply. See this frontline for Dogs site for very cheap frontline Dog flea medicine.

The History Of Native American Medicine Bags

From Standard to Elegant – Today’s Bathroom Medicine Cabinet

Whether a medicine cabinet is being installed into a brand new master bathroom or simply replacing an old guest bath model, there is no shortage in selection and style for every personal taste. When shopping for a new cabinet there are several general types and choices to consider.

Medicine cabinets have a plethora of options when it comes to door, lighting, and mirror styles. Some have simple mirrored doors while others are more elaborately framed with beveled edges and decorative etching. Doors also come reversible in many cases to accommodate a left- or right-handed person. Some cabinets have built-in lighting that helps provide optimum illumination. Side lighting, lighting from above, or even spot-lighting are all options which are readily available for medicine cabinets.

There are three basic types of medicine cabinets: surface mounted, recessed, and semi-recessed. Surface mounted ones are the easiest to install but are more visible and intrusive. Recessed and semi-recessed cabinets are well hidden and stylish yet require slightly more installation prep work and labor. Surface mount ones are hung like any large picture or mirror. The cabinet is hung by screwing it into wall studs. No framing or cutting into the drywall is necessary. These cabinets come in a wide variety of styles and sizes, anywhere from 12 to 48 inches across.

Recessed cabinets require slightly more work because they are actually placed between studs with the body of the cabinet inside the wall. Prep work for this specific type of medicine cabinet includes cutting a space in the drywall and removing any insulation to house the new one. If it is larger than the space between two studs, the studs may need to be trimmed out also. In order to comply with housing code, some reinforcement of the wall may be necessary around the unit. Despite the work, the recessed cabinet is worth it if sleek, slim lines are what you are trying to achieve in your bathroom.

Semi-recessed units are the same basic installation process as the fully sunk-in ones but they are not flush with the wall. These units are a good choice when considering a deeper unit than normal. Typical cabinets run approximately four inches deep but a semi-sunk-in cabinet can measure up to eight inches deep, providing for significantly more storage room.

The ultimate decision depends on how much installation work is desired and how much money is spent. Whether recessed or surface mounted, elegant or basic, the medicine cabinet will provide extra storage and style to any bathroom.

Why Does My Medicine Cost So Much

To understand why medications cost so much you must first understand the process involved to get a medication on the market.

When you see a new medication being advertised on a television commercial you have to know that there is really nothing “new” about it. On average most medications take an average of 10 to 13 years to go from initial development to the drug store shelves.

Once a new chemical is developed by a pharmaceutical manufacturer it then has to register a patent to protect it. The patent is good for 20 years from that point. The developer then has to submit applications to the FDA to recognize the new chemical. Next is setting up clinical trials. This where this new chemical is tested to determine it’s safety and effectiveness. Once that is verified the chemical is given to selected patients who have agreed to participate in the study. There are several phases to these studies. If all of these phases are successfully completed the FDA then votes to approve the new medication. If approved the drug company will then begin a heavy marketing campaign to promote their new medication.

But here is something you don’t hear on the commercials. On average, for every 5000 new chemicals developed only 5 will make it past the safety test. And out of those 5 chemicals only 1 will actually make it all the way through the clinical trials and get approved. So for every commercial you see for a new medication you can know that there are 4,999 “commercials” that didn’t make it.

So what does this have to do with the cost of the medicine? Well, by some estimates the cost to bring a new drug from the lab to the pharmacy is ~ $900 million…. for 1 drug. And we also need to remember the other drugs that didn’t make it. I’m sure less money was spent on those, but all totaled there is a lot of money invested in drug development.

Once the new medication hits the market the drug company now aims to recoup their expenses. Obviously they do this by charging high prices for their medicine. Also keep in mind that the average new drug has only 7 to 10 years remaining on it’s patent. The drug companies know exactly how much time they have left, and they price their medication accordingly.
